Prof. Dr. med. Urs Pohlman

Prof. Dr. med. Urs Pohlman completed his medical and philosophy studies in Grenoble (F), Munich and Berlin. In 2000 he wrote his dissertation on Consciousness Studies in Heidelberg. Subsequently, he worked until 2004 at Duke University in Durham (North Carolina, USA) with a focus on phenomenology and autistic developmental disorders and from 2002 also as an assistant physician at the Medical Center.

From 2007 to 2015 he worked at the University Hospital Basel (CH) focusing on neuroimmunology and muscular dystrophy. As an assistant physician, he worked in various clinics, including the Ita Wegman Clinic in Arlesheim (CH), a center for anthroposophical medicine. Initially at the Alanus University near Bonn, Prof. Pohlman taught art therapy/social art, in 2019 he moved to ATKA in Dornach (CH), where he has since combined art therapy and medicine. In the form of "long distance learning", he also teaches art therapy at Ming Dao University in Taiwan in cooperation with the Art Therapy Association Malaysia.

In addition, he is active as a practicing physician in Winterthur (CH) in the field of integrative medicine. In 2009 he founded the natural premium active ingredient cosmetics ananné based in Erlenbach ZH (CH), of which he is the managing partner.

What knowledge is ananné based on?

Healing with plants fascinated me even as a teenager. Later, when I worked in neuroimmunological research and dermatology, I realized that the integration of different scientific fields is the ideal starting signal for the development of innovative skin care.

My main goals were to focus on ingredients that are beneficial for the regeneration of the skin and can actually be absorbed with the right concentration.

This led to the development of ananné: "ana-neosis" is ancient Greek and can be translated as "rebirth" or "regeneration".

What is special about ananné?

ananné products support the skin's ability to achieve an optimal level of regeneration and maintain its own vitality.

A very important point is the work with active ingredients from plants. Wherever possible, we source them from certified wild collection. Our goal is to guarantee our customers the best quality of plant extracts. We also want to promote awareness in the areas where these plants grow by respecting their natural habitat. We actively support sustainable procurement on a fair price basis. In this way, we avoid further overexploitation and ultimately the destruction of nature. We owe this to the long-term development of a broad network and a long-term cooperation with the local population, who share their natural resources with us. This is an ongoing process of development and a viable foundation for all of us to create a better world based on true values.

How does the well-being of the skin manifest itself?

Our products do more than just care: Our formulations contain several active ingredients from different plants and have been used in the countries of origin for centuries for healing and nutrition. You can feel and see this: The skin feels supported, nourished and strengthened in its vitality. The attention we pay to the skin turns into well-being: that's what we call it ananné skin feeling.

How do customers react to the products?

As a doctor, I am often deeply touched when customers or patients express their gratitude to me after using our care products when their skin problems have been solved. Improving the skin structure after they have already given up hope is a confirmation for me to do the right thing. It is enriching to hear that people can enjoy their skin again, feel their health and individual beauty.
Our skin is a sensory organ: the feeling that the skin is well cared for is a great resource for happiness and well-being. Or as we like to say: Beautiful skin. Beautiful life.

How to support good skin care?

Sleep is an essential part of our lives, and yet we still don't really understand what that means. Sleep problems have a wide range of causes and can be positively influenced with numerous specific means such as meditation, mindfulness and also "mental ecology".

Our most direct and effective resource is our mind and the way we treat our bodies with nutrition, rhythm and what we are confronted with. As with skin care, I believe that the most sustainable and effective approaches will be based on a holistic understanding of the human being.

We will be rewarded for a deeper and broader perspective: improved sleep quality is most important for our recovery. It's an age-old insight that a good rest during sleep is essential for a deep-rooted healthy lifestyle, and this has a direct impact on our beauty. Our experience of beauty is actually the perception of health, translated into an aesthetic concept.

Is there a recipe for a restful sleep?

Our sleep is closely linked to how we live the day. The strongest factors for a rewarding sleep are a healthy and attentive lifestyle. If we consciously take time to think during the day, we are prepared not to take too much "homework" into our sleep phase. Consciously clearing our minds before sleeping may seem like a banality, but it is crucial for a restful sleep.
Another prerequisite is attention to our body. A minimum of healthy exercise can be achieved on so many levels that no one should have an excuse for neglecting exercise.
